Nursing Services

The clinical health staff consists of registered nurses and clerical specialists.

We offer services to all county residents regardless of income level.  Some of the services are free; others are income-based and a few are fee for services.  Clinical Services offers services from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday.   Below is a summary  of services offered:


Nursing Services

Provides education, counseling, pregnancy testing, TB testing, hemoglobin testing, glucose testing, blood pressure checks, blood lead testing, and head lice checks by a Registered Nurse during office hours.



Communicable Disease Reporting and Follow Up

Receives information from laboratories, physicians, hospitals and individuals about infectious diseases that are required to be reported under Ohio law.  Completes investigation and education needed to stop the spread of disease in the community.



Immunizations

Provides childhood and adult immunizations, including flu shots and pneumonia shots.  Income-based fees.  No appointments required but call ahead to insure a nurse is available.



Teen Health Clinic

Provides physical examinations, health screenings, testing, and health education for youth 11 to 21 years of age.  Call for appointments.



Well Child Clinic

Provides comprehensive physical examinations, immunizations, screenings for blood pressure, blood iron, blood lead, urinalysis, nutrition, vision, hearing, speech and development.  Call for appointments.



Hearing Specialty Clinic

Provides an ear, throat, and nose examination, hearing test, and speech/language screening at no charge to the family.  Provided by Ohio Department of Health.  If your child needs further treatment, financial assistance may be available through BCMH.  Call for appointments.



Vision Specialty Clinic

Provides any eye examination by a vision specialist at no charge to the family.  If your child needs glasses, the Vision Service Plan is available to financially eligible families.



BCMH (Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps)

Program funded by Ohio Department of Health that helps identify children from ages 0-21 years with special health care needs so that families can obtain comprehensive care and services.  Income based. Public Health Nurse provides case management and serves as liaison between families and managing physicians.



STD/HIV Education and Counseling

Provides comprehensive and confidential education and counseling services for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV.  Referrals can be made for diagnosis and treatment.



Lead Poisoning Prevention Testing

Provides blood lead testing and follow-up to identify children at risk.  Provides educational materials to identify lead exposure risks and prevent accidental lead poisoning.



Newborn Screening

Provides state required blood testing for Ohio Newborn Screening Panel to identify possible problems, illness, and/or conditions.



SIDS Program (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)

Provides information to families that have experienced a SIDS death and to assist in coping with their loss.  Makes referrals for grief counseling through local agencies. 



Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention

Provides awareness, education, prevention, collaboration and community building for suicide prevention.  Provides the Yellow Ribbon "Ask for Help" cards and support for the youth in our community.  Supports the "Stay - Listen - Get Help!" life skills promoted by Yellow Ribbon.
